A young person answered my call to my local Senator's office. I ended my call with, "One day, you will be need Social Security and Medicare. Do you want those safety nets to be there for YOU?"
I’m in a red state, phone calls to rep this am and left messages on their phone systems. They rarely answer with a live person. It feels futile but at least we are giving them an earful.
I have tried to tell my Senators- they just don’t care! And why do I need to tell them - why aren’t they outraged? Don’t they want to keep our Democracy!! So disappointed!!!

Jess! Thank you for modeling a call. Democracy can work and it takes work.
Two suggestions.
I start all communications with a thank you. Everyone likes to be appreciated.
I edited your talking points. In my experience the congressional offices keep a tally of constituent calls. Short and to the point works well.
